Services We Offer

  • Structural engineering that balances creativity, constructability, and long-term performance; supporting projects from early concepts through construction with responsive design, coordination, and solutions tailored to each client’s goals, budget, and risk profile.

  • Program management and fast, specialized structural and civil engineering support, from delegated design and integrated detailing to modular and prefabricated solutions, streamline coordination, strengthen constructability, and help teams build with confidence.

  • We support contractors with construction-phase engineering, including structural analysis for construction loads, multi-step erection plans, temporary shoring design and review, and tower crane, hoist, and concrete pump foundation design.

  • Our integrated detailing replaces isolated subcontractor workflows, improving coordination and speeding delivery. Using advanced 3D models, we detail systems such as stairs, rails, tilt-up, and curtain wall, with seamless alignment to the design team.

  • Our modular and prefabrication team designs panelized systems, multi-trade racks, and componentized assemblies with the speed and precision these fast-moving markets demand. We pair structural expertise with detailing capabilities to accelerate off-site fabrication and streamline installation.

  • Civil engineering that balances entitlement, infrastructure performance, and constructability; shaping sites, utilities, and grading to support each project’s vision while navigating regulations, coordinating with stakeholders, and delivering practical, buildable solutions.

  • Drainage system design at ESE focuses on protecting communities and managing stormwater responsibly. Services include flood control, FEMA coordination, water quality strategies, and cost-effective solutions tailored to local watersheds.

  • Integrating water, sewer, stormwater, grading, and roadway systems with surrounding infrastructure, ESE provides site engineering that emphasizes durability, sustainability, and innovative methods for long term performance.

  • Designing transportation systems that support community connectivity and growth, we deliver roadway, pedestrian, parking, and transit designs that align with regional plans and agency requirements for safe and efficient movement.

  • Efficient storage, treatment, and distribution of clean water are supported through our experience with treatment plants, lift stations, storage tanks, and distribution networks, delivering reliable and cost-effective solutions.

  • Focused on understanding how and why structures perform as they do, a range of investigative methods is used to evaluate existing conditions, distress, and failures—identifying root causes, clarifying risks, and delivering actionable recommendations for long-term performance.

  • We evaluate existing buildings to determine feasible structural modifications, code upgrades, and repair needs. We apply practical, performance-driven solutions that adapt aging facilities, extend service life, and meet current operational demands.

  • Drawing on decades of experience in parking garage evaluation and repair, we deliver detailed assessments, targeted rehabilitation strategies, and construction support. We understand the demands of harsh climates with practical, durable solutions that extend service life and reduce disruption.

  • We design, evaluate, and certify fall protection and façade access systems for new and existing buildings. We perform load testing, hazard assessments, and annual inspections to support safe, dependable access for building maintenance and repair.

  • With civil, structural, and building enclosure peer review experience, ESE provides collaborative, independent evaluations that clarify risk, validate design intent, and elevate performance.

Featured Projects

Looking up into a building under construction, showing a square opening at the top with sky visible, surrounded by scaffolding and construction materials.

McGraw Hall Renovation

Provided delegated steel connection engineering for the temporary exoskeleton and endoskeleton shoring systems supporting the renovation of historic McGraw Hall at Cornell University. Working through our Construction Engineering Services (CES) group, we supported the project’s steel fabricator, by delivering connection designs, detailed drawings, and sealed calculations for the temporary shoring steel erected during critical construction phases. The completed shoring system enabled safe and efficient renovation work while protecting the existing structure.

Saratoga National Historical Park South Parking Lot

Civil design services for the pavement resurfacing of the National Park Service’s southern parking lot at Saratoga National Historical Park. We designed a new signal entrance road while incorporating design elements for all visitors on foot, bicycle, and horse. The project is located in a cultural area both archaeologically and from a cultural landscape standpoint. Alternative designs were provided to the Park and cultural resources for consideration. As any impacts to the viewshed could significantly affect the visitor's experience of this battlefield. Drainage design, utility coordination, and permitting services with NYSDT were also provided on this project.

LECOM Harborcenter

We provided structural engineering services for this mixed-use project that includes retail, five levels of parking, a hotel, and two professional regulation-size ice hockey sheets. The ice is used by the NHL Buffalo Sabers for practice and serves as the home of the Canisius College Hockey team. One ice sheet has 1,700 seats, the second ice sheet has bleachers. The roof structure is made up of a series of lenticular trusses composed of heavy glulam timber, steel tubes, tension rods, and wood decking.
